It’s no secret that I’m a Stranger Things fanboy. I had never heard of this show when I sat down to watch it for the first time but I will always remember it. Many shows, such as Arrow and Agents of Shield, were hard pressed to keep my attention for a full 20-25 episode season and it was exhausting keeping up with them. Not Stranger Things.

When I realized that the inaugural season was only 8 episodes, I was slightly  bummed, granted I learned about this while on episode 6. The show never had a bad episode and never had a moment where I felt bored or uninterested in what was happening, something I had felt with many other TV shows including my favorite of all time The Office.

With Season Two being confirmed shortly after the release in the summer of last year what do we know so far about said season?

The Trailer……Kind Of:

In the announcement we learn about the names of the episodes:

  • MadMax
  • The Boy Who Came Back To Life
  • The Pumpkin Patch
  • The Palace
  • The Storm
  • The Pollywog
  • The Secret Cabin
  • The Brain
  • The Lost Brother

The directors (Duffer Brothers) did a good job in the first season of giving every episode a title that means something important to the story that unfolded. The particular episode that I am intrigued by is “The Boy Who Came Back To Life.” Is that referring to Will who we saw at the ending? Or maybe another brother that we haven’t met yet? The suspense and mystery that has evolved surrounding this show seems too much to be true.

When Will It Arrive?

This is the million dollar question isn’t it? The good news is we have a time table, even if it’s a wide one. Shawn Levey, director of Real Steel and episodes 3 and 4 of the first season, sat down with Collider and had a chat regarding Season 2 of Stranger Things.

He did spill the beans about a couple of questions we all had.

When asked about the release date of of Season 2 he wasn’t candid and stated that filming started on Nov. 8th 2016 but declined to offer an official release date stating:

“That I can’t say. I do have a sense of it. It was promised when we announced that we were picked up for Season 2 and we gave those chapter headings, I believe it ended with ‘Coming in 2017’ and that much is true. You can do a little bit of math, we’re not magicians so there’s no way it launches in Spring since I just admitted we started filming today, and we’re doing nine.”

The previous season released on July 11th 2016 and we can only speculate it will be around that time.

The Big Question, Is ‘Eleven’ Returning?

From all accounts; Yes.

A production photo was released and it did have Millie Bobbie Brown as part of the public announcement that they were officially starting production.

Also, if you look on the IMDB for Season 2 she is listed as being in the show for 2017. While there isn’t any information on how she comes back in to the universe, it looks that she is coming back. After all, what’s Stranger Things without Eleven right?

What is the Storyline?

That we’re still not sure of. But we do know that the core cast is coming back:

“I’m not gonna say how much time has gone by. It is not the next day, I’ll say that. And there are several new characters who I think several of them are going to be new fan-favorites because they’re great, great new characters. But we are definitely sticking primarily with our core group, and what is different, how are they changed from the experience of last season… maybe ‘normal’ is never possible again.”

The director did however tease what Season 2 will be about without confirming the main storyline:

“Will Byers was in that Upside Down for a while. So Season 2 is about this determined desire to return to normalcy in Hawkins, in the Byers family, in that group of friends, and it’s the struggle to reclaim normalcy and maybe the impossibility of it.”

He also didn’t quite confirm that season 3 is a thing, but he did give us a “wink, wink” when asked about a possibility of Season 3:

“We are not gonna be caught off guard and we don’t wanna be making stuff up like the day before we have to write it and make it, so we are definitely optimistic and we have started thinking ahead.”

Everything Points to a Season 2 that we can all get behind. Keep a look out for other trailers and updates here on Gameacuity.com
